KiwiNet Commercialisation Professional Framework

KiwiNet’s Professional Development Framework has been designed for current and aspiring Commercialisation Professionals across New Zealand, to enable them assess their strengths and weaknesses and access training and support to build their capability.

The competencies outlined in the development continuum have been drawn from both the International Association for Tech Transfer Professionals (ATTP) Core Competencies and the Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia (KCA) Capability Framework. They have been adapted and developed in conjunction with commercialisation professionals across New Zealand’s network to suit our environment.

How to use the framework

  1. Identify your commercialisation Career Stage (Beginner, Established, Senior).
  2. Review the Capability Clusters to determine areas you’d like to develop. The competencies outlined are intended to be a guide, rather than a definitive list, when considering your professional development.
  3. Cross match these with training and opportunities available to help develop your skills in these areas.

KiwiNet is keen to refine this framework. If you have any feedback or suggestions for relevant training courses that could be added, please contact mlow@kiwinet.org.nz

Commercial capability development is PreSeed eligible, so check with your KiwiNet to ensure the training you’re planning to undertake is appropriate and then fill out a Notification form in Fluxx to halve your training costs!
