Industry Engagement – Maori Sector
Reece Moors is part of Callaghan Innovation's Industry Engagement team as is Auckland, focusing on the Maori sector. Prior to Callaghan Innovation, Reece came from the Ministry of Science & Innovation (MSI) where he was the Chief Advisor Maori Development. He was appointed National Business Manager Maori Innovation at the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology (FRST) in 2007, working in the commercial R&D area, and was later appointed Director Maori, Social and Scholars Sector.
Prior to joining FRST and MSI, Reece was Senior Manager Iwi/Maori Partnerships with the Ministry of Education. He also has experience in the private sector, having worked for Telecom in sales, events and sponsorship and also having run his own consultancy business during the America's Cup, connecting high-net-worth individuals with investment and business opportunities in New Zealand.
Reece affiliates to Tainui and Te Arawa tribal groups and has a wealth of Maori stakeholder relationship experience and networks. Having worked in Parliament for 5 years, Reece has a strong understanding of the machinery of government and a good understanding of the contribution Maori economy can continue to make to New Zealand, using science and innovation.
