Held twice yearly, the Commercialisation Forum brings together research commercialisation staff to build and share networks, knowledge and capability.

Key Objectives:

  • Relationships - build personal relationships between commercial staff to develop a strong and active network across commercialisation offices.
  • Project Collaboration - facilitate collaboration on commercialisation projects by identifying complementary projects and shared expertise
  • Developing Best Practice - encourage discussion on commercialisation processes and experiences to learn from each other and develop best practice systems and processes.

Keynote speaker – International perspectives on Research Commercialisation
Todd Sherer, Vice President for Research Administration and Executive Director of Technology Transfer at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and Immediate Past President of AUTM.

Interactive session with Industry Representatives – This session is intended to provide attendees with perspectives from multi-national companies, including how Technology Transfer Professionals can best approach and engage with them. Industry representatives will share their experiences and preferences and answer questions from attendees.
Format: small groups.

  • IP Valuation – Overview of valuation methods and principles
    Facilitated by Paul Adams, CEO, EverEdgeIP

  • International Market Validation – Providing guidance for approaching international markets for the validation of opportunities
    Facilitated by Dean Prebble, Customer Manager, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise

  • Negotiating Tech Transfer Deals or Investment – A practical session which looks at the respective negotiation processes for these two key commercialisation options with the objective of equipping attendees with the skills required to build robust partnerships and “win-win” outcomes.
